Learning Circle with Muhammad Aurangzeb

    Mr. Muhammad Aurangzeb joined HBL on April 30, 2018, as the President & CEO. Prior to this responsibility at HBL, he was the CEO of JP Morgan’s Global Corporate Bank based in Asia, with a rich international banking experience of over 30 years in other senior management roles at ABN AMRO and RBS based in Amsterdam and Singapore. He is the only Pakistani to be invited to the exclusive membership of the Global CEO Council organized by WSJ / DowJones group. He is also Chairman of the Pakistan Banks Association, Director of the Pakistan Business Council, and Council Member at the Institute of Bankers Pakistan. He received his BS and MBA degrees from the Wharton School (University of Pennsylvania).

    Mr. Muhammad Aurangzeb spoke at the Shahzada Dawood Learning Circle (SDLC) held at the Karachi School of Business and Leadership. He discussed the challenges faced by Pakistan, including fiscal and trust deficits, the need to increase tax-to-GDP, boost exports, and privatize state-owned enterprises. Mr. Aurangzeb also highlighted Engro’s role as the private sector leader in battling economic challenges by bringing everyone together.

    Import-led subsidies-supported businesses have no place in this country. A level playing field is okay, and we should start moving in that direction, but subsidies cannot be provided since there’s none left.
