Karachi, January 20, 2011: USAID|Pakistan and Engro Foundation are to organize a micro grants ceremony as part of the ‘Khushaal Livestock’ rehabilitation program at Larkana on 27th January, 2011.

The rehabilitation program is part of USAID|Pakistan’s livelihood assistance project for the flood affected areas of Larkana and Dadu, and has been developed in collaboration with Engro Foundation, Engro Foods and the Mennonite Economic Development Authority (MEDA).

The project, worth USD 0.91 million (PKR 77.35 million), targets 15,000 households and over 100,000 animals over a 6 month period ending May 2011, and aims to restore productivity of farm animals to pre flood levels. The initiative will provide health and nutritional supplements such as mineral mixtures, multicut grass seeds (jowar), oat seeds, as well as fertilizers and vaccinations for foot and mouth diseases, in order to restore the health and productivity of flood affected livestock. The project is to be implemented by Engro Foundation, in collaboration with the agri services department at Engro Foods.
