    Engro & TCF inaugurate a purpose-built campus in GhaggarPhattak

    The campus built at a cost of PKR 22 million will provide education opportunities to the residents of GhaggarPhattak and adjoining areas.

    KARACHI: May 11, 2015: Engro Polymer & Chemicals– through its CSR wing, Engro Foundation – inaugurated the new TCF campus in GhaggarPhattak – a small village near Port Qasim in Karachi. The new facility constructed by the petrochemicals business of Engro will serve as a primary school for girls and boys in the vicinity which lacks educational infrastructure that can provide a functional schooling experience to children of the colony.

    The school was jointly inaugurated by the President of Engro Corporation, Ali Ansari; CEO of Engro Polymer & Chemicals, Khalid Siraj Subhani and the Chairman of TCF Mushtaq Chhapra while MPA SajidJhokio was also present at the occasion. The purpose-built campus of the school has the capacity to accommodate up to 180 students while 70 students are currently enrolled in the academic year.

    Speaking at the occasion, Khalid Siraj Subhani, CEO, Engro Polymer & Chemicals said: “Nearly half of Pakistan’s population cannot read or write while number of children out of school in Pakistan ranges anywhere from 07 million to 25 million. These statistics alone call for drastic measures on a war footing. It is only by educating these young minds today that we can move forward and at Engro we are working tirelessly to benefit our future generations.”

    TCF Chairman, Mushtaq Chhapra added: “TCF has always strived to remove barriers of class and privilege to make the citizens of Pakistan agents of positive change. We believe quality education can lead to a better future and the Engro TCF GhagharPhattak campus is just another step in that direction.”
    The school will be expanded into a secondary school in the near future while there are also plans to invest in construction of a polytechnic institute that will benefit the youth of GhaggarPhattak and Port Qasim vicinity.
