    Engro Polymer & Chemicals Ltd Educating & Empowering Communities towards a Better Tomorrow

    Event: Technical Education Program for Local Community School Children of Razakabad & Ghaghar Phatak
    planned on 12th April 2010.

    Engro Polymer & Chemicals Limited. puts a premium on making contributions to the socio- economic
    development of communities around it. The CSR strategy of the company focuses on community involvement
    and development inline with the company core values. As a responsible business, EPCL has been supporting
    community schools in the areas of Razakabad & Ghaghar Phatak for the past couple of years. The local
    government school support program with the community is just one example of the programs we have in
    place. The focus on improving the quality of education has encouraged the company to take over various
    government primary and secondary schools for development works this year in an effort to help improve the
    quality of education in the government schools of Razakabad and Ghaghar Phatak. EPCL initiative includes
    instituting scholarships for children of PQ areas. This has been running successfully for the last five years. The
    scholarship targets ten students every year, sponsored on a quarterly basis.

    Realizing the education and employment needs of the community the corporate has launched another long
    term technical education program for the local children of Ghaghar Phatak & Razakabad areas. The program
    offers technical education for three years along side English language and computer language courses.
    The idea of equipping local children with technical education for future employment opportunities within and
    outside the industrial area of Port Qasim is based on the concept of “educate children and empower
    community to live a better tomorrow”. The students who have qualified for EPCL technical education
    program undergo thorough rigorous admission criteria and are evaluated on basis of merit.

    The first batch of scholarships have already been allotted and the next batch of students will qualify in August
    2010. The upcoming initiative will focus on environmental awareness & education, teachers training programs
    for the local community school teachers, educational festival to encourage primary and secondary education.
    The program includes students of hundreds of schools located within the vicinity of Port Qasim Authority.
