    MoUs inked with USAID: Engro Corporation improves access to education in Sindh

    Karachi, Pakistan, September 22: Engro Corporation signed MoU’s with USAID to improve access to education in Sindh. The ceremony was held at the Engro Head office to sign a MoU between IATC, USAID and the Education & Literacy Department, Government of Sindh (GoS). The MoU was signed so the organizations come together to support the Sindh Basic Education Program (SBEP) which is a collaborative effort of GOS and USAID.

    Sindh Education Secretary, Fazlullah Pechuho, USAID Mission Director John Groarke, and Senior Vice President Engro Corporation Ruhail Mohammed signed the MoU. Also present were US Consul General Brian Heath, Chairman Engro Corporation Hussain Dawood and USAID Senior Policy Advisor and Program Manager for Sindh Basic Education Program Randy Hatfield.

    While addressing the ceremony the US Consul General Brian Heath said “The Sindh government and Engro Corporation have shown great leadership in implementing US-funded education projects. The collaboration will go a long way toward making education more accessible to children in Sindh.”

    The Sindh Basic Education Program (SBEP) is being implemented across various districts in the province. The program’s several components include School Construction; Community Mobilization Program; Reading Program andCapacity Development Project.

    Under the tripartite agreement, Engro under its “I am the Change” initiative will help generate funding for SBEP schools.

    I Am the Change (IATC) is a flagship Engro initiative which helps to celebrate those individuals and organizations working tirelessly to improve lives of the underprivileged in the areas of Livelihoods, Education & Health in Pakistan. IATC also happens to be one of the first CSR crowdfunding platforms in Pakistan.
