Clarification of factual information in news piece “Engro finds major faults in LNG terminal agreement”

Apropos the news item “Engro finds major faults in LNG terminal agreement”, published in Dawn on September 30, 2014. The Company clarifies that the complaint of non-fulfillment of contractual obligations by the government and the Sui Southern Gas Company Limited (SSGC) as mentioned in the news item was communicated through letter dated July 25 2014,and therefore, is based on outdated information.

Given the time that has lapsed between the time the said letter was shared with the MP&NR and relevant authorities, SSGC has taken steps to ensure timely completion of all deliverables and the work on the project is progressing at full speed with completion expected to be earlier than the contractual agreed date. Furthermore, EETPL would like to reiterate that given tight schedules for the project, the GoP, along with relevant authorities, is provided regular feedback on the progress of the project including critical issues requiring action so that the 335 day deadline is not missed . The stakeholders have continued to support with a positive response received from them on all matters so that LNG can start to augment the increasing shortage of gas in the country.

Engro Elengy Terminal is committed to delivering on its contractual commitments and is taking all measure to ensure that the country receives its first Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) consignment as per the contractual commitment with SSGC, to meet the burgeoning demand for gas in Pakistan.
