Khawaja Iqbal Hassan


Khawaja Iqbal Hassan graduated cum laude from the University of San Francisco with majors in Finance and Marketing. He started his career with Citibank N.A. in 1980 where he held key positions including Regional Business Head and Vice President in Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Pakistan. In 1994 Mr. Hassan founded Global Securities Pakistan Limited and built it into a top tier stockbroking and investment banking firm that concluded significant Privatisation transactions in Pakistan and became a joint venture partner of UBS AG. He subsequently founded NIB Bank Limited in 2003 which, in partnership with Temasek Holdings of Singapore, became a top 10 ranked commercial bank in Pakistan within a period of 4 years.

Mr. Hassan currently serves as a member of the Board of Directors of the State Bank of Pakistan and ICI Pakistan Limited. He is also a member of the Monetary Policy Committee of Pakistan in addition to serving as a member of the Board of Trustees of the Karachi Grammar School, the Layton Rehmatullah Benevolent Trust and The Cardiovascular Foundation. Mr. Hassan has previously served on the Board of Directors of the Civil Aviation Authority of Pakistan (CAA), Pakistan Steel Mills, Habib Bank Limited, National Fullerton Asset Management Company Limited, NIB Bank, the Lahore University of Management Sciences, Global Securities Limited, Citicorp Investment Bank Pakistan, The Pakistan Fund and the Central Depository Company of Pakistan.

Mr. Hassan was awarded the Sitara-i-Imtiaz by the Government of Pakistan for meritorious contribution to national interests.

Raihan Ali Merchant


Raihan works within the constantly evolving sphere of corporate and brand communications in the cluster of challenge markets. Brainchild has positioned itself as an Integrated Marketing Communications Agency, across the cluster they work in. For now, these include Pakistan, Bangladesh, Myanmar, Nepal, Afghanistan and Sri Lanka.

Raihan started Pakistan’s 1st Media Agency in 1997 creating a new business within the advertising industry. Today, almost 2/3rd of advertising space bought in the country happens through Media Agencies. The agencies that Raihan manages have expanded their business across countries and new communication verticals. The newest addition has been marketing and sales of Pakistan Super League, which has, in 3 years become the largest Cricket event in Pakistan.

Raihan regularly consults TV stations on creation and growth of incremental revenue streams both within and outside their core markets. He now works actively on building and developing digital infrastructure that would lead to creation of advertisable, monetizable online assets. Raihan was rewarded for his industry development work in 2012 when he received Tamgha e Imtiaz from the President of Pakistan.
Raihan’s work requires a team of curious, courageous, passionate and focussed professionals. They employ 400 people across 7 cities and 11 offices. He takes pride in creating, training and deploying teams that deliver business results through Communication solutions for customers that range from Fortune 500 companies to local Corporates.

Raihan did his MBA from IBA Karachi in 1990 and has worked across advertising and media spheres for the last 28 years.

Rizwan Diwan


Mr. Rizwan Diwan is the Executive Director of Novatex Limited.

Novatex Limited belongs to G&T group of companies. The G&T group is a leading name in Home Textiles, Garments, Polyester Textiles and Packaging Resin products in Pakistan. Mr. Rizwan Diwan is a director in a number of group companies as well as a director in a Joint Venture Company, ThalNova Power Thar (Pvt) Limited, a 330 MW mine mouth Thar coal based power plant at Tharparkar district.

Mr. Rizwan Diwan has also taught at IBA and holds a Masters Degree in Business Administration from the Institute of Business Administration, Karachi

Hussain Dawood

Hussain Dawood is the Chairman of Dawood Hercules Corporation Ltd, Engro Corporation Ltd, The Hub Power Company Limited, Pakistan Poverty Alleviation Fund, Karachi Education Initiative, Karachi School for Business & Leadership and The Dawood Foundation. The Dawood Foundation has contributed to the establishment of many institutions in Karachi and Lahore including the Karachi School for Business & Leadership; Dawood College of Engineering and Technology; the Dawood Public School for Girls; the Aga Khan University Hospital; the Lahore University of Management Sciences; the Beaconhouse National University; the Shaukat Khanum Cancer Hospital; the Al-Shifa Eye Hospital, Rawalpindi; Citizen Foundation Schools at Sheikhupura and Daharki; the GIK Institute of Engineering Sciences and Technology, Topi; the FG Dawood Public School, Muzaffarabad; the Cradle to Cradle Institute in San Francisco; and the Acumen Fund; New York.

His social responsibilities include Memberships of the World Economic Forum and its Global Agenda Councils of Anti-Corruption and Education, and the Asia House in London. He is the Honorary Consul of Italy in Lahore and was conferred the award “Ufficiale Ordine Al Merito Della Repubblica Italiana” by the Republic of Italy. Hussain Dawood is an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University, USA, and a graduate in Metallurgy from Sheffield University, UK. He joined the Engro Board in 2003.

Muhammad Abdul Aleem

Muhammad Abdul Aleem is a Fellow Chartered Accountant (FCA) and a Fellow Cost & Management Accountant (FCMA). He has worked for 16 years in Senior positions with Engro Corporation Ltd and Esso Singapore. Thereafter, he has worked for another 14 years with British American Tobacco Group UK (BAT) in Pakistan and Overseas. For over 10 years he served as CEO of BAT operations in Cambodia, Mauritius and Indian Ocean.

Since 2004, he has served in Senior positions with large Government owned organizations in Pakistan. His last assignment was as the Managing Director, Pakistan State Oil Company Limited. Currently, he is the CEO/ Secretary General of Overseas Investors Chambers of Commerce & Industry.

He is also serving on the Boards of Meezan Bank Ltd. and Dawood Hercules Corporation Ltd.

Abdul Samad Dawood

Abdul Samad is a graduate in Economics from University College London, UK and a Certified Director of Corporate Governance from the Pakistan Institute of Corporate Governance. He is the CEO of Dawood Corporation (Private) Limited and Patek (Private) Limited. He is also a Director on the Board of Dawood Hercules Corporation Limited, The Hub Power Company Limited, Dawood Lawrencepur Limited, Engro Foods Limited, DH Fertilizers Limited, Tenaga Generasi Limited, and Pebbles (Private) Limited. He is a member of Young President Organization, Pakistan Chapter. He joined the Engro Board in 2009.

Shahzada Dawood

Shahzada Dawood serves as a Director on the Boards of Dawood Hercules Corporation Ltd, Engro Corporation Ltd, DH Fertilizers Ltd, Dawood Corporation (Pvt) Ltd, Engro Foods Ltd, Engro Powergen Ltd, Engro Powergen Qadirpur Ltd, Engro Vopak Terminal Ltd, Pebbles (Pvt) Ltd, Patek (Pvt) Ltd, Engro Polymer & Chemicals Limited, Sirius (Pvt) Ltd and Tenaga Generasi Ltd. He also serves as a Director of Dawood Lawrencepur Ltd and Engro Fertilizers Ltd. He is a Trustee of The Dawood Foundation, which is one of the largest public charitable trusts in Pakistan, supporting education and health initiatives. He serves as a Member of the Board of Governors of the National Management Foundation, the sponsoring body of Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS). He is an M.Sc. in Global Textile Marketing from Philadelphia University, USA, and an LLB from Buckingham University, UK and a Certified Director of Corporate Governance from the Pakistan Institute of Corporate Governance. He joined the Engro Board in 2003.

Muneer Kamal

Muneer Kamal is Chairman of National Bank of Pakistan and Chairman of Karachi Stock Exchange has over 33 years of extensive experience in banking and financial sector. His career started with Citibank where, between November 1979 and July 1994, he served locally and internationally on various senior positions including his term as Associate Director Singapore Training Centre. During this association, he also attended a number of training courses I programs in Far East, Middle East and Africa.

Mr. Kamal then joined Faysal Bank Limited as President/CEO and led to spread out its operations from 3 branches to 11and also expanded the balance sheet size from Rs. 3 billion to Rs. 30 billion.

Mr. Kamal also held position of President/CEO, and then as Vice Chairman of the Union Bank Limited, where he had been instrumental in various acquisitions done by Union Bank Limited i.e. Bank of America, American Express Credit Cards, Emirates Bank international and Mashreq Bank, Sri Lanka. As a result, Union Bank emerged as a success story and was ably acquired by Standard Chartered Bank. After his stint with Union Bank, Mr. Kamal, an MBA from University of Karachi, began his association with KASB Group – as President/CEO of KASB Bank Limited from November 2005 to August 2010.

Besides holding the position of Chairman of the Karachi Stock Exchange (KSE) Board, Muneer Kamal is also the Chairman of Human Resources & Remuneration Committee and Nomination Committee of KSE and is member of Voluntary De-listing Committee of KSE’s Board.

Other Directorships & Offices include Chairman Karachi Stock Exchange and Director, Government Holdings (Private) Limited.

Waqar Malik

Waqar has had a distinguished career spanning over 27 years in the chemical industry with ICI Plc Group, UK and later with AkzoNobel Netherlands. His management and work experience spans over 3 continents, Asia Europe and the Americas in strategy, corporate finance and management. In the last 15 years he has held senior leadership positions including Chief Executive of ICI Pakistan Limited, Chief Executive and Chairman Pakistan PTA Limited (now Lotte Pakistan Limited).

His other current engagements are Non-Executive Director of IGI Insurance Limited and trustee i-Care Foundation. He has also served as Non-Executive Director on the Board of State Bank of Pakistan, Non-Executive Director or Oil & Gas Development Company Limited, President of the Overseas Investors Chamber of Commerce & Industry and President of Management Association of Pakistan.

An Alumnus of Harvard Business School and INSEAD, Waqar is a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales. He joined the Engro Polymer and Chemicals Board in 2007.

Henna Inam

Henna Inam is the CEO of Transformational Leadership Inc., an organization that helps Fortune 500 companies grow transformational leaders. She is a former C-suite executive of Fortune 500 companies who drove transformation throughout her corporate career including roles such as: Global Head e-Innovation at Novartis, Chief Marketing and Innovation Officer and Region President for the Americas at Ciba-Vision, Country General Manager for Gerber Products Company.

Henna brings significant global experience, having lived or worked in seven countries across three continents. She is a frequent speaker on leadership and a blogger for Forbes. She has appeared on Fox Business, NPR, and is quoted in Fortune/CNN/Money online.

Committed to several non-profits that share her passion for the advancement of women in leadership, Henna is on the Board of Counselors for Carter Center in Atlanta, GA, and an organizer for TEDxWomen in Atlanta. She is also a founding charter member of OPEN Atlanta. OPEN is the largest Pakistani entrepreneurship and leadership organization in the world. She is on the global board of Developments in Literacy (DIL) which educates 25,000 children in Pakistan.

Henna received her BBA degree in Finance from the University of Texas at Austin, an MBA from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania and completed Executive Education programs at the Harvard Business School.

Inam ur Rahman

Mr. Inam ur Rahman is currently the Chief Executive Officer at DH Corp. In the recent past, he has led the renewable businesses of the Dawood Group as CEO of Reon Energy Limited and Tenaga Generasi Limited. With more than 25 years of professional experience Mr Rahman showcases his diverse business expertise dominating a wide spectrum of industries which include renewable energy, food sciences & production, textiles, fashion & apparel, lifestyle, and business consultancy.

His portfolio of directorships include Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited, Dawood Hercules Chemicals Limited, Dawood Lawrencepur Limited, Sind Engro Coal Mining Company, Hub Power Company Limited, Laraib Energy Limited, SACH International Limited, and Pebbles Private Limited. He holds a Bachelors of Electronic Engineering from University of Engineering & Technology from Lahore sealed with Masters of Business Administration from Lahore University of Management Sciences, He was also adjunct faculty at LUMS teaching Strategy, Management and Marketing. He is an environmentalist at heart and his passion is to make all energy renewable and free. He joined the board in 2016.

Imran Saeed


Imran Sayeed is part of the Entrepreneurship and Innovation faculty at the MIT Sloan School of Management where he teaches on a variety of topics including Disruptive Technologies, New Business Models, Software and Internet Entrepreneurship, and Global Innovation in Large Companies. Working with the MIT Enterprise Forum he has started and developed entrepreneurial ecosystems in Central America and South Asia.

Previously Sayeed started and led the Digital practice for NTT Data, the 6th largest technology consulting company in the world with 75,000 employees in 45 countries and $16 Billion in annual revenue and was also the Chief Technology Officer and head of innovation. Sayeed came to NTT through its acquisition of Keane, where he led a 7000 person, $750MM technology consulting organization spanning North America, Europe and Asia and providing end to end IT services from strategy to implementation and outsourcing.

Prior to Keane, Sayeed was an entrepreneur for 13 years, having founded 2 successful software product and services companies. He was part of the founding team of Open Environment, a leading middleware product company that he helped grow from a 10-person startup to an IPO in 1995. He then started NetNumina, a technology strategy and consulting form that he led as Chairman and CEO and grew from a 15 person startup to one of Computerworld’s Top 100 emerging companies and Inc 500’s fastest growing businesses, and subsequently sold to Keane in 2005.

He was also the founding global President of OPEN, the largest Pakistani entrepreneurship and leadership organization in the world with over 5000 executives and entrepreneurs in 12 cities in the US, UK, Canada and Pakistan. He also holds a patent on Internet security technology he jointly developed with Citibank. Sayeed was named by Computerworld as one of the Premier 100 IT Leaders for 2013. Sayeed has been featured in the Wall Street Journal, Forbes, Harvard Business Review and most of the leading business and technology publications for his work on entrepreneurship, digital technologies, and innovation.

Sayeed is also the co-founder of Teach The World Foundation, a global literacy non-profit that is using technology to radically transform how children across the world learn to read, write and do math. Sayeed attended Brown University where he majored in Engineering, and Harvard University, where he did post-graduate work in business, marketing and product development.
