Karachi, July 1, 2013: The Board of Directors of, Engro Foods today announced the appointment of Sarfaraz A. Rehman as CEO Engro Foods with immediate effect. Rehman takes over responsibility from outgoing CEO, Afnan Ahsan, who has served Engro Foods for almost 2 years.

During his tenure as CEO of Engro Foods, Afnan provided leadership for bolder and out of box innovations that further reinforced the image of the Company as a premier home-grown, multinational foods company of Pakistan. Throughout his time with Engro Foods, the Company delivered innovative marketing communications and for the first time introduced its corporate philosophy under a unified theme titled “Khud Pakistan”. Afnan also provided leadership for the launch of Dairy Omung and Omung Lassi – now successful Engro Foods brands, along with promoting the Al-Safa Halal line to further penetrate the North American and Canadian markets with wholesome and nutritious halal food products.

Under his able leadership, Engro Foods was also listed amongst the winners of the prestigious G-20 Challenge on Inclusive Business Innovation – a global competition managed by International Finance Corporation (IFC), a member of the World Bank Group. The recognition at this G-20 Summit stemmed from Company’s commitment to pioneering innovative business models that have positively impacted the marginalized communities of Pakistan. Afnan’s guidance and business acumen is widely reflected in the bottom line profitability of the Company which crossed the billion-rupee mark under his leadership in 2012.

The incoming CEO Sarfaraz Rehman is a Chartered Accountant by qualification and has over 29 years of experience in the FMCG and Healthcare industry. He has held key leadership positions in leading multinational and national companies in Pakistan and abroad.

Lately, he was working as Chief Executive Officer of Dawood Foundation. Prior to joining Dawood Foundation, he established Engro Foods Limited in 2006 and looked after the company as CEO for six years and was instrumental in launching the flagship Engro Foods brands such as Olper’s, Tarang and Omore – providing direction and strategic insight to make these brands household names throughout Pakistan.

Sarfaraz Rehman is also a Director on the Boards of Engro Corporation Limited, Karachi Education Initiative (KEI), a not-for-profit entity and the sponsoring organization of the Karachi School for Business & Leadership. He will assume responsibility of Engro Foods with immediate effect.
