Karachi, April 24, 2014:  Engro Foundation, the CSR arm of Engro Corporation has announced the winners of I am the Change (IATC) digital competition. The announcement was made in an award ceremony amid the presence of various corporate veterans, media and the senior management of Engro.

I am the Change campaign was initiated with the objective of recognizing the inspiring efforts of passionate Pakistanis who have been working relentlessly in pursuit of shaping a better tomorrow by contributing in the spheres of education, health and livelihoods. The first IATC campaign launched in 2012 celebrated the efforts of four distinct individuals and institutions – The Garage School, Dream Foundation School, Patient Welfare Association and Karachi Vocational Training Centre – for their dedication to uplifting the living standards of marginalized sections of the society.

This year, Engro received more than 1300 entries in the fields of livelihoods, education and health. Out of these, Engro identified and honored Khwendo Kor – a non-profit, non-partisan organization from KPK in the field of Education, Akhuwat – a nonprofit organization from Lahore in Livelihood development and Child Aid Association of Karachi in Health, for their determination for creating positive change.

Speaking at the occasion, Ali Ansari – President & CEO, Engro Corporation said, “Real change begins when individuals join forces to take collective action. We strongly believe in investing in tomorrow by taking complete ownership to inspire change. ‘I am the Change’ initiative is a magnification of our outreach to a multitude of individuals and institutions operating outside the communities that host us. Our focus through this campaign essentially is to help and empower these unsung heroes so that they can expand the magnitude of their benefits to the masses. We strongly believe that corporate leaders can come together and join us to bring a positive change in Pakistan through empowerment in livelihoods, education and health”.

The entries were submitted through Engro Foundation’s dedicated microsite www.iamthechange.com.pk and were judged by a panel of judges. The winners of the competition were selected based on the scope of their social work; level of impact, number of beneficiaries and the ability to replicate the program amongst other key considerations.
