Olper’s team is all geared to launch the sequel to epic drama serial ‘Tanhaiyaan’ showcasing life of the actors after more than 2 decades.
Karachi, October 17, 2012: The classic drama serial of the 80s, proverbially referred to as the golden age of Pakistani Television, is all set to make a comeback with a sequel titled “Olper’s Tanhaiyaan – Naye Silsillay”. The 13-episode serial format will showcase the storyline of the original Tanhaiyaan twenty-seven years later. The story plot revolves around the lives of the daughters of Asif Raza Meer and Shehnaz Sheikh – the central characters of Tanhaiyan – and their lives after over two decades.
The original Tanhaiyan that was first aired in 1987 enjoyed enormous acclaim at the time of its airing and evokes fond memories even today. The sequel has been written by Haseena Moin and Mushtaq Ahmed and features the key cast of the original plot including Asif Raza Meer, Marina Khan, Behroze Sabzwari, Badr Khalil and Qazi Wajid. Joining the veteran cast are faces from the newer generation which include sisters Alishba Yousuf and Syra Yousuf, Shehroz Sabzwari and Sheheryar Siddiqui.
Speaking about the initiative, Director Marketing of Engro Foods Javed Iqbal said, “Olper’s has been a pioneer in creating ground breaking initiatives to connect with its consumers. We believe that our effort to recreate the glory of the original Tanhaiyan through a sequel – Olpers Tanhaiyaan Naye Silsillay – is one such attempt which showcases innovation and a strong connect with our brand. The female characters as depicted by Haseena Moeen have always proven to be inspirational women who have struggled through life with inner strength and inherent acceptance of who they are. These values we feel are synonymous with the Olper’s woman and through Olper’s Tanhaiyaan – Naye Silsilay we wish to highlight these familiar concepts along with family togetherness and women empowerment.”
Olper’s Tanhaiyan Naye Silsilay will be aired every Saturday starting October 20, 2012 on satellite and terrestrial channels. Marina Khan, the director and one of the senior cast members is excited to be part of the drama again and said, “The cast has done their best to bring back the magic of Tanhaiyaan through their performances and we are all certain that the audiences will enjoy watching these characters take the Tanhaiyaan journey again”.
