As the flood waters swept through Pakistan engulfing villages in their wake, Thatta was the last major district to be hit. Around 200,000 people fled their houses, some fleeing to higher ground close by, others to relatives in nearby towns and most to relief camps that had been set up.

Muddassir Chaudary had only just relocated to Multan from Karachi a few days before the floods. Despite being in the process of relocating and getting himself adjusted as Zonal Manager at Engro Fertilizer Multan, he immediately took on the responsibility of executing relief projects in Muzzafargarh and Layyah. According to Save the Children ,Muzaffargarh is one of the worst affected districts where more than 700,000 people have been displaced and hundreds of villages destroyed by floods in the Chenab and the Indus Rivers. Muddassir and his team were right bang in the middle of the crisis.
